Hollow Concrete

Now that things are getting a bit more under control on the inside and the finishing details are happening we decided it was time to start demo on the outside before the snow flies. So today Bryce started demo on the back concrete stairs. Here you can see that the stairs going up the back of the house are hollow. I hope we find a buried treasure in this hollow space! We finished taking out the old concrete and no buried treasure, but we are thankful to Neil, Chuey & Memo for helping Bryce demo these stairs.

11 Months With No Toilet

After 11 months with no toilet. Today is a big day with the first of three new toilets getting installed. As you can see from the photos not only are the new toilets making there way in, but the tub and tile are too. I am very happy with how the small marble mosaic tile turned out in the shower floors and how it pairs back to the larger porcelain grey tiles. This will be the same tile that is in our entry, mudroom and main living space with our fireplace. The count down is on for our move in date. We were hoping to move in mid-September, but it looks like October is more realistic. I am going to put it in writing that the date is October 15th one day prior to our one year anniversary of purchasing the house. Well see how close we get to it.
A before shot of the only upstairs bathroom. Now we have not only have an improved bathroom, but we now have 2 upstairs!

Tile in the Master & Guest Bath

One of the first things that we picked out for our house was the tile. We wanted to get a durable grey porcelain tile similar to what they use at R&B and that is exactly what we found. These 16X16 tiles from Tile X Design are the perfect tone of grey. After looking at every tile place we kept coming back to these ones and they were the first ones we picked. The smaller tumbled marble mosaic tiles in the showers work back to the porcelain tile and again they were the first one that really spoke to us at Katelo.

Painting is Complete

After about 1 week or so of painting, everything in the house has Edgecomb Grey on it. From the garage to the lofted studio/office space, it is all one color.

Edgecomb Grey

The Quinn's are painting their house! OMG it is finally happening. I go over to the house each day to see the progress that is made and today I had to just stop and realize how far we really are in the process. This week we are talking about paint colors in this case Edgecomb Grey! My favorite light, neutral paint color, so I painted the entire house in this color. When you find something that works...you stick with it. Here are few shots of the painted walls and one blast from the past photo of our kitchen. Also the cabinets have been officially ordered and being made in Shell Lake Wisconsin. I am so excited for those gorgeous pieces of walnut!
